Backup Blu-ray/DVD to AC Ryan Player on Mac for TV playback

Posted by Unknown Rabu, 22 Januari 2014 0 komentar
This article shows how to remove your Blu-ray/DVD protection and rip them into MP4 format, so that you can playback the movies on TV via AC Ryan Player.

AC Ryan Playon is a media player which works similar to Apple TV; with HDMI to your TV, it helps to playback various video formats in widescreen.

We have one AC Ryan Playon connected to our TV in living room to play TV shows downloaded from Internet. This device support video formats as below: ASF/AVI/BD-ISO/DAT/DVD-ISO/FLV/IFO/MPG/MP4/M2TS/MKV/MOV/M4V/TP/TS/TRP/WMV/VOB/RM/RMVB

So generally we don’t need to work with format transform and it works pretty well.

But recently we got plenty of DVDs and Blu-rays (most Blu-rays) from a friend; and we decide to backup them so we can view these movies on TV via AC Ryan. Don’t need to keep the original file size as we have limited storage, but want to get pretty good video quality.

We did a lot of researches online and finally got this SM named Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper for Mac (Mac based); it has a simple yet very easy-to-use UI, and has a large output list that supports various formats. The most important thing is it accepts my every disc, which Handbrake and Jack the Ripper couldn’t.

Download a trial version or get 30% OFF license on this New Special.

For people who want to backup all the audio tracks or subtitles, you are suggested to try Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac.

How to rip Blu-ray/DVD to view on AC Ryan Player?

Step 1. Load disc

Click “Load files(s)” to import DVDs and Blu-rays. Note you need to have an external Blu-ray drive if you want to rip Blu-rays.

Keep Internet connected during importing.

Step 2. Choose format.

Although AC Ryan Player support lots of formats, I still recommend MP4 format as it’s most acceptable by most devices, so that you can watch the converted video on other devices also.

Click “Format” and choose “HD Video>H.264 HD Video(*.mp4)” as below:

Step 3. Adjust output settings (Optional)

Click “Settings” to change video size, bitrate, frame rate and audio specs. I chose “original” size to playback on TV.

Step 4. Start conversion

Click “Convert” in the main interface to start the conversion (batch conversion supported). After conversion, click “Open” which is below the “Settings” to find the converted video.

Use a USB drive to transfer the ripped MP4 media file to AC Ryan Player, now just enjoy your Blu-ray/DVD movies on TV!

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 09 Januari 2014 0 komentar
Description: This article show you how to convert ISO image files, Sony AVCHD footage and PVR recordings to MKV/MPG format, so that you can edit them in Adobe Premiere Elements or watch on WDTV Live.

Q: “I made some family videos with a Sony CX155E this Christmas, and recorded my son’s favorite TV show in PVR; we both have something to do with the videos together with download ISO image files: I want to edit in Adobe Premiere Elements and my son wish the watch on WDTV Live in the living room. Is there a multi-task tool can help us with the format problem?”

I love make and editing videos as a hobby so I am not new to format and codec issues. Usually when you want to playback a ISO image file on computer, you should run a virtual drive to mount this file then open it. PVR recordings can be playback smoothly on the box, but it’s not the best format for WDTV – WDTV prefers MKV format. As for the Sony CX155E, I browsed and found its footage is in AVCHD file structure.

So things become simple: to accomplish all the tasks, you need to find a tool which is able to convert ISO, PVR and AVCHD into MKV for WDTV Live, or MPG for editing in Adobe Premiere Elements.

Although there are various video converting tools on the market, dare I say the Pavtube Video Converter Ultimateis the simplest program to use. This all-in-one video converting tool support converting Blu-ray/DVD ISO files, AVCHD footages and PVR recordings to various formats in presets for different using; import, choose preset, convert. It’s as simple as that.

Note: its Mac version is renamed as iMedia Converter for Mac.

How to convert ISO, AVCHD & PVR recordings to WDTV Live or Adobe Premiere Elements

Step 1. Install and launch this Video Converter Ultimate; import video

Firstly you need to keep camera on and connect it to computer, then download the AVCHD from card; click the top left “plus” icon to import AVCHD file to it.

ISO image files can be dragged and dropped into it directly; so is PVR recordings.

Tick the “Merge into one file” if you want to combine several videos into one file.

Step 2. Choose format.

Click the drop-down list besides “Format”, you will find many presets sorted with different device model, editing program, etc.

For people who need to watch on WDTV, you can choose “HD Video>MKV HD Video(*.mkv)” as below:

If you want to load the video to Adobe Premiere Elements for editing, let’s hit “Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas>MPEG-2(*.MPG)”:

Step 3. Adjust target file setting (Optional).

If you are not satisfied with the default video/audio settings, click “Settings” to change file size, bitrate, frame rate and other specs.

Step 4. Start conversion.

Ok now back to the main interface, find the big “Convert” and hit it; it will process the tasks in batch. After it completed, click “Open” or “Open output folder” to find the converted videos quickly.

Besides, I used to burn the final video to DVD after editing. Pavtube studio also released a DVD Creator program for this.

Play Blu-ray and DVD Movies in 16:9 display aspect ratio

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 15 Oktober 2013 0 komentar
Most people are more inclined to a 16:9 screen since it is a good compromise that fits a lot of movie formats without too much pillar boxing or letterboxing, not to mention it fits all HDTV programming perfectly. If you intend to digitalize your Blu-ray DVD collection for storing them on your NAS, so as to stream them to your laptops and/or DLNA compliant Home Theatre systems for watching in 16:9 widescree, you may find this article is worth reading. The purpose of this article is to help you create 16:9 widescreen MP4 files from Blu-ray and DVD movies. (Read more:What is an aspect ratio and Types of aspect ratio)

[Guide] Rip Blu-ray and DVD to widescreen (16:9) MP4 video using ByteCopy

The software I will use is Pavtube ByteCopy. The reason I use Pavtube is because a reviewer put it at the top of the list of the 5 best Blu-ray rippers. Also, I found out that upon downloading its trial version that I was able to rip both my Blu-rays and DVDs to 16:9 MP4 straightly with satisfactory quality and fast speed. These are the two reasons why I picked Pavtube ByteCopy.

Follow the detailed operating steps:

Step 1. Import source media.

Click “Load file(s)” button to import Blu-ray/DVD movie files. You can load a disc, a Blu-ray/DVD folder, or an IFO/ISO image file.

Step 2. Select output format.

Pavtube ByteCopy offers several MP4 formats for users to choose from, including SD MPEG-4 MP4, SD H.264 MP4, HD MPEG-4 MP4 and HD H.264 MP4. Here we pick “H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)” for instance. To select H.264 HD MP4 as output, do as follows:

From Format bar, navigate to “HD Video” catalogue, and then choose “H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)” as target format.

Step 3. Set aspect ratio to 16:9.

Click “Settings” button to custom video aspect ratio. By default, the “H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)” profile uses 1920*1080 (16:9) aspect ratio. If you are using Blu-ray as input, you needn’t change anything here, because this ratio is proper for full HD Blu-ray movies, and you can get a 16 x 9 MP4 file in 1080p. But if your source media is standard DVD, we suggest you set the size down to 1280*720 to produce a 720p video in widescreen (16x9).

How to crop black bars on top and bottom of the image and still keep 16:9 aspect ratio:

1). On the main interface, press “Edit” to enter video editor. Switch to “Crop” tab.
2). Click on the Keep Ration lock.
3). Select 16:9 from the Operation Ratio box.
4). Crop out the black bars by 16:9. This may sacrifice some image on left and right side.
5). Click “OK”, back to the main interface and go on ripping DVD/Blu-ray movies for playback.

Keep in mind that when it comes to DVD movies there is a formatting issue to consider. Many movies are wider than 16:9. For example, The Fifth Element, U-571, American Beauty, The Lord of the Rings, Dances with Wolves, Star Wars/Phantom Menace and Seabiscuit (to name a few) are all 2.35:1, not 1.78:1(16:9). When you display these movies on a 16:9 screen you will have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. The black bars are not as large as they would be on a 4:3 screen, but they are there nevertheless. (view Wikipedia to learn more about Aspect ratio)

Step 4. Start ripping Blu-ray/DVD movies to 16:9 MP4 video.

When back to the main interface, click the “Convert” button to start converting Blu-ray DVD movie to MP4 video in 16 x 9 widescreen.
