Nutech also tested the 10-inch model, which has the latest on the larger screen after almost the same.

Both tablets have a back made of a material that we can call it by now. “Samsung plastic ‘ The plastic, known for phones like the Galaxy S III and S4, does not feel luxurious to but is sturdy.

Galaxy Tab 3 tablets appear in all respects to an enlarged Galaxy S4: rounded corners, metallic sides and the same buttons.

Screen

Both models have a screen of 1280 by 800 pixels. At the 8-inch model that provides a pixel density of 189 pixels per inch, while the 10-inch model to do it.

Performance

Graphic performs the 10-inch tablet better than the smaller model. Graphic heavy games like Asphalt 7 do not run completely smoothly, but show a lot less delay than the 8-inch tablet.

Playing a 720p video with sound and wifi on, with the brightness at 65 percent, held the 10-inch tablet 7 hours. Interestingly kept the smaller tablet, with a smaller battery, an hour longer. This is reasonable.

Camera

5 megapixel camera which the 8-inch Galaxy Tab features 3 is reasonable, although the colors are a bit dull. The camera of the 10 inch version takes pictures with beautiful colors, but the pictures are with 3.15 megapixel slightly less sharp.

Where the tablets really excel is in sound quality. The stereo speakers on both devices are excellent and can be hard without too severe distortion. The lack of blikkerigheid is a relief.

The positioning of the speakers on either side of the 10-inch tablet also makes this tablet one of the few that actually gives a stereo feeling. The 8 inch tablet, the speakers next to one another at the bottom, so that lacks this property.

Software

the Galaxy Tab 3 is Android 4.2.2 with the now familiar Touchwiz software from Samsung. This has advantages – such as easily accessible settings in the notification screen – but looks generally not very nice

Conclusion

8 and 10-inch models of the Galaxy Tab 3 are solid tablets, especially the small enclosures. The performance and screen resolution are disappointing.

The biggest problem with the devices is actually the price. For the 299 euros that the 8-inch version costs can soon buy a Nexus 7 with full HD screen. And for a few bucks more than the 379 euros that the 10 inch version costs get Samsung’s own Galaxy Note 10.1 or Nexus 10. That also are both better performing tablets with better screens.
